In February 2023, researchers introduced that they’d managed to report mind exercise in freely shifting octopuses for the primary time. The scientists implanted electrodes and an information logger into day octopuses (Octopus cyanea).
Mind exercise patterns recorded within the analysis haven’t but been tied to particular behaviors, but if the apply sticks, it might present extra details about the internal workings of the octopus, and particularly how their mind exercise corresponds to their actions.
There are moral questions right here, as is the case each time units are inserted into animals that can’t specific consent. However inserting units into the animals for science is arguably higher than frying and consuming them (and persuasively so, within the opinion of this author).
